December Portraits: Emily

The last of my little December portrait shoots was with Emily, a talented local artist and photographer. We first met when a friend of ours sat us together on a wedding table, knowing our mutual interest in all things photography would make for some interesting nerdy conversation (which it most certainly did!)<br /><br />So this shoot has been a long time coming! She gave up a morning of her time to head down to the woods and take a little break to shoot with me amidst revision for her exams, something I am incredibly grateful for. December Portraits: Kaytii

As we wind down towards Christmas, I really wanted to make a commitment to just get outside and take some portraits for no reason at all than just for fun. So my next few posts will focus on just that - meeting up with friends and shooting!<br /> <br /> This shoot fell on one of those bizarre days where the sunshine is blazing but the temperature is absolutely freezing, so Kaytii's willingness to model was especially appreciated! Luckily, we got the results we wanted super quickly and she was able to return to her many layers to warm up. December Portraits: Maria

As we wind down towards Christmas, I really wanted to make a commitment to just organise things and take some portraits for no reason at all than just for fun. So my next few posts will focus on just that - meeting up with friends and shooting!<br /> <br /> Maria and I have been well overdue a catchup since we last met, and a little morning shoot in my new home was the perfect way to do it. Over mince pies and coffee, we talked at length about photography, cats, life, and everything else.<br /> <br /> Maria is such an inspiration to me. She has achieved so many things (a PHD, a fascinating TEDx talk and successful photography business to name a few!) and the whole day just left me feeling so inspired and motivated to push myself and my business further than ever before. December Portraits: Emma

As we wind down towards Christmas, I really wanted to make a commitment to just get outside and take some portraits for no reason at all than just for fun. So my next few posts will focus on just that - meeting up with friends and shooting!<br /> <br /> And so earlier this week, I headed back to the village I grew up in to take some portraits of Emma, a local photographer who was back in her hometown on a flying visit back from university. Hearing about her adventures, projects and lectures reminded me of my year studying photography, which I will always look back on fondly as some of the happiest days of my life, and knowing this I am just so excited for the journey that lies ahead of her. Styled Wedding Shoot

On the first day of April, I had the honour working with lots of talented local vendors on my first styled wedding shoot. It was an enormous amount of fun and I feel so inspired to get out there and do more like this.. I'd better get planning!<br /> <br /> We were all so pleased with the results that we decided the best thing to do was to submit the photos for publication, and to our delight the fantastic Your Herts & Beds Wedding Magazine wanted to use one of the photos for the cover and to do a write up of the shoot in their Brides' Bulletin. Testing with the Leaf Credo 60

When my friend Chris approached me a few months ago offering to let me test out his Leaf medium format camera and new Credo 60 digital back, there was no way I was going to turn such a generous offer down! I'd always been fascinated by this next level of camera equipment and couldn't be more excited to really get to grips with the mindful, conscious process that these cameras turn taking photographs into.<br /> <br /> Each photograph had to be focused manually, and the camera was so heavy I felt like I'd gone to the gym once we'd finished shooting, but it was an incredible experience and one I'm really grateful to have had. They looked sharp on camera, but when I got them on the computer I think my jaw dropped to the floor! Lucinda

Out of all of the people I have known through my internet travels, I think Lucinda has been one of the people I've followed the longest. I'm pretty sure I've been keeping an eye on her work ever since I was uploading photos of flowers and trees to deviantART!<br /> <br /> So with Lucinda now a fashion designer and model, and myself a photographer, it seemed only right that we finally met up to do a little shoot. Will & Danny

Shooting with men is not something I've ever really done over the course of my career, but when Will and Danny approached me about shooting, I knew it was time to bite the bullet and go for it!
