Blogging for Photographers - Book Review!

Hey everybody!<br /><br />I just checked in to my iTunes book, <span style="font-style:italic;">Blogging for Photographers<span style="font-weight:bold;"></span></span>, in the bookstore, and found a great review! Yay!! I thought I'd give y'all a reminder to buy the book if you're interested in blogging for your business. <br /><br />Here's a link to buy the book:<br /><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/blogging-for-photographers/id473906232?mt=11">http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/blogging-for-photographers/id473906232?mt=11</a><br /><br /><a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/blogging-for-photographers/id473906232?mt=11" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Blogging For Photographers iBook" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/11Blog/titleImage.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px;" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-style:italic;">Simply Amazing<br /> <br />by Fotoqueen1982<br /><br />Dale really thinks outside the box with this one! I always viewed blogging as a dreaded task that needed to be done every once in a while, mainly so my photography website would be found by search engines more easily. I'll admit it, I was wrong! I'm pumped to start blogging now, and not just to gain new clients and show off my work, but to show the world what I'm up to!<br /><br />Blogging for Photographers really shows how to create interesting, eye-catching blog posts, and how to utilize those posts to gain a loyal blog following, and henceforth, and HUGE customer base. I mean, who doesn't want a bigger, better customer base? The book is a super easy read. Honestly, I started it and couldn't put it down! I finished it in less than 24 hours, but I already know I will be using it for a reference for months, if not years, to come. Dale has been captivating me with his blog for years, and Blogging for Photographers gave the same warm fuzzies. It's a must-read for the serious photographer looking to expand!</span> <---Thanks for the super great review!! Hugs to you!!!<br /><br /><br />Have a happy weekend!<br /><br />Talk to you soon,<br />Dale

What I Made: Sweet and Spicy Deviled Eggs

Hey everybody!<br /><br />Last night's party was a success! We had a great turnout and saw some of our favorite people! We worked hard to prepare enough food for our honored guests, and I'm happy to say that everybody loved what we made!<br /><br />Here was our spread...<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/11Blog/0927_blogparty/tasting_party_table.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/11Blog/0927_blogparty/tasting_party_table.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 533px;" /></a><br /><br />Our menu:<br />Dale's Spanish Deviled Eggs (recipe below)<br />Mere's Tabouli<br />Dale's Spicy Pineapple Pork with Sweet Asian Sauce<br />Dale's Potato Soup<br />Caprese Sticks<br />Ellie's Pumpkin Cookies with Daddy's Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese frosting<br />Pumpkin cake (with VBCC frosting)<br />Mere's Banana Pudding<br /><br />Today, I wanna share my own recipe for the deviled eggs I made. <br /><span style="font-weight:bold;"><br />Dale's Sweet and Spicy Deviled Eggs</span><br />I've had a long-time love for deviled eggs. While no one makes them as good as my mom, I set out to make a new version of one of my favorite foods. I mean, who doesn't like bacon and eggs?! Another great thing about this hors d'oeuvres is that you can make this ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator to finish an hour or so before the party.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/11Blog/0927_blogparty/fancy_deviled_eggs.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/11Blog/0927_blogparty/fancy_deviled_eggs.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 600px;" /></a><br /><br />Ingredients<br />for eggs filling:<br />2 dozen hardboiled eggs, peeled and halved lengthwise, yolks preserved<br />1/2 tbsp smoked paprika<br />2 heaping tbsp dijon mustard<br />1 tbsp honey<br />1 tbsp minced jalapeño + 2 tbsp jalapeño pickling liquid<br />1/2 tbsp cayenne<br />pinch of salt and pepper<br />8oz cream cheese (I use fat free and it's still yummy)<br /><br />for bacon:<br />5 strips thick cut bacon (I like pepper crusted)<br />1 tbsp brown sugar (I use dark brown)<br />1/2 tsp cayenne pepper<br /><br />Instructions:<br />After peeling and halving the hardboiled eggs, put all the yolks in a medium mixing bowls. Place the eggs (not the yolks) in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. Mix the rest of the ingredients into the mixing bowl and put into a ziplock bag and squeeze out excess air and store in the refrigerator.<br />Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the bacon on a parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the cayenne and brown sugar evenly over the strips. Place in oven for 9-11 minutes, just until crispy. Take it out and let it cool, then cut strips into 3/4" pieces.<br />Pull the refrigerated items out, and cut a tiny hole in the corner of the ziplock to pipe the eggs with the mixture. Stick in a the bacon piece, serve, and enjoy!<br /><br />By the way, those egg serving pieces are from Anthropologie - LOOOOVE!<br /><br />More recipes from our party coming soon!<br /><br />Talk to you soon,<br />Dale<br /><br /><div id="fb-root"></div><br /><script>(function(d, s, id) {<br /> var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];<br /> if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}<br /> js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;<br /> js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1";<br /> fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);<br />}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script><br /><br /><div class="fb-like" data-href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2011/09/what-i-made-sweet-and-spicy-deviled.html" data-send="true" data-width="820" data-show-faces="true"></div><br /><div id="fb-root"></div><br /><script>(function(d, s, id) {<br /> var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];<br /> if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}<br /> js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;<br /> js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1";<br /> fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);<br />}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script><br /><br /><div class="fb-comments" data-href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2011/09/what-i-made-sweet-and-spicy-deviled.html" data-num-posts="5" data-width="820"></div>

The Benfield Blog: Sharing My Work

Hey everybody!<br /><br />When it all boils down to it, I started this blog to share my work with current clients, future clients, and friends/family. From that, this blog has turned into quite a bit more, so today, tomorrow, and Monday, I'll be sharing the reasons I blog with you, and why I made such a commitment to my readers to blog every single day... for ONE THOUSAND DAYS!<br /><br />I honestly am so flattered when girls (it's almost ALWAYS girls) come up to Meredith or me at a wedding and say: OMG! I feel like I already know you! I stalk your blog every day! The fact that people spend precious time (isn't time so precious?!) reading what I have to say, and looking at images I want to share still amazes me!<br /><br />Over the years, and the last 1000 consecutive days, I wanna share some of our most-commented-on images with you, as well as a couple favorites of my own. Head with me down memory lane!<br /><br />People always ask where is the coolest place we've ever photographed. My answer is immediate: Paris France! Shooting a proposal in Paris, France, and then engagements the next day was such a dream!<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/112909_proposal/proposal-in-paris-06.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Proposal in Paris France - Paris wedding photographer" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/112909_proposal/proposal-in-paris-06.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 1196px;" /></a><br /><br />I of course have to include the <a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2010/07/nikki-and-garneys-rain-session.html">engagement shoot in the rain</a>!<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/10Blog/0712_nikki/004.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Engagement Pictures in the Rain" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/10Blog/0712_nikki/004.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 533px;" /></a><br /><br />People still chat me up about the <a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2010/08/indian-wedding-week-ceremony-and.html">New York Indian wedding we photographed</a>. One of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen, no doubt! Designed by celebrity wedding designer to the stars, Ed Libby:<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/10Blog/0826_meeta/Arkansas_Indian_Wedding_Photographer_17.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Arkansas Indian Wedding Photographer" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/10Blog/0826_meeta/Arkansas_Indian_Wedding_Photographer_17.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 1200px;" /></a><br /><br />Here's another water shot: UNDERWATER! My camera and I went <a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2009/07/lindseys-cenote-trash-dress-session.html">underwater to photograph the bride and groom</a>'s underwater portraits the day after their wedding in Mexico:<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/071409_williams/004.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Underwater picture of bride and groom in Mexico" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/071409_williams/004.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 533px;" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2009/07/felicia-and-casey-dick-tie-knot.html">This wedding</a> was published all over the place due to the groom being Casey Dick, the Arkansas Razorback quarterback - this wedding was quite fabulous and fun, and we got to work with <a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2009/07/felicia-and-casey-dick-tie-knot-vendors.html">our favorite wedding vendors</a>!<br /><a href="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/071709_casey/005.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="Arkansas Razorback Quarterback wedding of Casey and Felicia Dick" border="0" src="http://www.benfieldphoto.com/09Blog/071709_casey/005.jpg" style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 800px; height: 533px;" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://benfieldphotography.blogspot.com/2009/10/northwest-arkansas-wedding-photographer_30.html">Another gorgeous bride</a>... no wonder it got so many comments on all their posts!
